The Nature Ring

The Nature Ring was the first established magic community of LoudStone. It seemed only natural, as the Earth gave them everything they needed to survive. The first settlers (after the dragons) were fae, satyrs, fauns, elves, gnomes, and other creatures tied to the elements, the seas, and the sky. They established a communal society, where they shared the gifts of the Earth as they cultivated and nurtured it. They specialize in magic centered around plants, animals, and the four core elements. Their magic is gentle, honors growth and abundance, and a nourishing relationship with the world around them.

The Decay Circle

As the natural world flourished around them, many members of the Nature ring were distraught when plants and animals began to die and decay - however, they soon learned of the transition’s own inherent magic. Death taught them things about the past and future and was not something to be feared as they’d once seen it. It soon became clear that Nature and Decay could not exist without each other and they learned to work together. Members of the Decay Circle are cooperative and work well with the other groups, but are not social and largely keep to themselves.

The Knowledge Sect

As Nature and Decay began to develop rich histories, many dedicated their craft to recording, studying, and learning from them. It was soon identified that this was an incredible source of power, as brain power proves to be the only source of energy that will never run out. The Sect soon begat wizards, witches, sorcerers, mages, and other scholars - those who were not all born with inherent magical ability, but were able to dedicate their lives to studying and harnessing it.

The Creation Coterie

Dissatisfied with merely studying history, many wanted to create it and weave knowledge into stories that would be passed from generation to generation. Thus was born the Creation Coterie, those who may be a little more loosey-goosey with their studies, but remember the parts that make you feel something. There is inherent magic in storytelling, persuasion, and emotion. All kinds of creatures end up in the Creation Coterie, but all are musicians, artists, storytellers, inventors, and other creators.

The Banished Ones

LoudStone’s people are wary of a forbidden fifth source of magic — as well as the people who once studied and utilized it. Sourcing their magic from nomadic Dragons, this community was once extolled for their “inner fire” until the inevitable migration of their sole sources of power. However, reliance on such an unpredictable power source caused controversy… LoudStone’s residents don’t love to discuss the explosive schism that followed…
