BACKSTORY

It is a common misconception that continental drift was the only reason that the Appalachian Mountains traveled to where they are from Europe. The range, teeming with magical energy, was a historical dragon nesting location. Each curve, crust, and cave of the mountain range served as spots for dragons to rest, nest, and store their treasures.

In the Beginning

LoudStone was ruled by King Amaranth Grandiflora, and while things were relatively peaceful, there were petty rivalries that brewed in the background.

However, some citizens of LoudStone were drawn to the chaotic, raw, and uncontrollable power of the dragons. Cadenza Vyzzeo sought to harness the beauty and power of the dragons, but her idea was rejected by LoudStone for the fear of the effect of this magic on both the dragons and the citizens trying to harness it.

Thus, Cadenza and those who supported her were forbidden in an event called the Schism (and played out by you in a TTRPG experience), and they became The Banished Ones and King Amaranth disappeared into a mysterious cloud of butterflies…

Tensions Rise

Ortensia, King Amaranth’s daughter, was thrust into the position of Queen. 20 years later, Queen Ortensia called her advisors and friends together for a Fantasy Fete (LoudStone’s first event) to help her prepare for the following Spring.

Upon the arrival of the Fantasy Fete, the four magical communities (you!!) – The Nature Ring, Creation Coterie, Knowledge Sect, and Decay Circle gathered in Queen Ortensia’s court at Stone Manor.

This was a time of food, drinks, and festivities for guests to explore LoudStone’s court, but the citizens (still you!) uncovered a sinister plot with the existence of a secret dragon’s egg and that the Banished Ones lurked closer than anyone had expected… citizens learned that, over time, the dragons began to disappear and the Banished Ones grew powerless, destitute, and hungry. Cadenza’s daughter, Annalys, was determined to fight for her people.

Infuriated by LoudStone’s banishment, they planned to infiltrate the Kingdom Celebration. LoudStone citizens were asked to find out more and decide where their loyalty lies…

Reverence and Unity

As spring blossomed, Queen Ortensia held her most grand event: The Kingdom Celebration (LoudStone’s second event). Once again, the four magical communities came together to celebrate and discover the magic within Stone Manor.

During the festivities, Queen Ortensia was kidnapped by Annalys, who was desperately attempting to retrieve lost power since the dragon’s departure and claiming safety and respect for the Banished Ones.

Utilizing magic from all in attendance, LoudStone as a collective whole cast a spell to break the power of Annalys’s sword and it was revealed that Annalys did not kill the King, but the King chose to disappear and his “death” was blamed on the Banished Ones.

Upon this revelation, Queen Ortensia announced that LoudStone citizens could choose– either accept the Banished Ones back into LoudStone or send them away again. Ultimately, in light of the truth, the Banished Ones were finally accepted back into the Kingdom of LoudStone, albeit cautiously.
